A unique morphology for bent-core liquid crystals forming the B4 phase has been pictured for a class of tris-biphenyl bent-core liquid crystal molecules. These multi-level hierarchical self-assembled structures, rivaling dandelions on transmission electron microscopy, and show immense structural and morphological complexity.
Jury comment: The picture represents a unique morphology from bent-core liquid crystals pictured under the transmission electron microscopy.
