STEAM initiatives i.e. integrating STEM with artistic approaches have introduced the importance of critical thinking and creative solutions, thus proving to be of mutual benefit for both subjects. This digital artwork attempts to reimagine liquid crystals, by pushing the boundaries of their fundamental geometric forms and characteristic colors in an artistic way, so as to explore the link between liquid crystal science and technology and the contemporary art culture.
Jury comment: This contribution aims to connect STEAM initiatives with artistic approaches and liquid crystals, considering mainly their geometric shapes and characteristic colors. Exploring "the link between liquid crystal science and technology and contemporary art culture”, it shows how different “realities and interests" are not so far apart in sensory perception. It is an attractive version of the aesthetic beauty always highlighted by liquid crystals.
